Extension and Renovation of a 1970s Villa
Located on the edge of the former Battlefield of Waterloo, a protected heritage site offering breathtaking views, this four-sided villa from the 1970s featured a living area that was too narrow in relation to the overall size of the house.
The extension project enlarged the living room to restore generous and well-balanced proportions, while also creating a private office on the ground floor. This workspace was designed as a distinct attached volume, conceived as a small house within the house, echoing the architectural language and materials of the existing building.
In the garden, a wooden pool house was added as a sculptural element, designed for mid-season use. It provides an ideal setting for outdoor dining and relaxation, oriented toward sunset views and the surrounding landscape.
Inside, a new open fireplace designed by Greenarch structures the living space as a bespoke integrated feature combining a fireplace, bar, and wooden shelving, bringing warmth and conviviality to the interior. Additional lateral views toward the garden were introduced, creating dynamic perspectives and strengthening the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.
